Well, that was dumb 🫠
How about some *music*
Hey everyone,
I’m really loving writing you each week, putting songs out every month and sharing more of my process…but last week I kind of blew it.
I wrote this nice, evocative, moody post about “Hard to Find.”
I invited paid members to hear the whole song first (so far so good) and then invited the rest of you to pre-save it, but….I didn’t offer you anything in return for that pre-save. 🤦♂️
To be fair, that’s kind of the way it’s always been with pre-saves - it’s a very weird mechanism that is kind of asking a lot of a music listener - come here, go through these steps, then you’ll get the song in your library…in a while. I don’t mind them as a fan, but I’d like them more if I got something back.
So, here you go.
Remember I told you I picked up my guitar and recorded the basic idea for this song that night after my white-knuckle drive through Texas? You can hear that very demo now when you pre-save the song.
You’ll hear me fumble into a chorus (that never made it into the final song), lots of lyric differences and the raw-ness of something coming to life.
Thanks, as always, for listening
Syd
P.S. Next week we are re-releasing Hotels & Highways “Lost River” for its 15th anniversary (!) with the full instrumental tracks. It’s been a trip down memory lane for us as we sift through the archive - if you have any memories to share about that album or tour, please send them along, we’d love to hear them.
